Turning Red: Why Is Everyone So Mad?

This is about the movie "Turning Red". Here are some comments on the matter:

My sister in law recently told me a fellow mom at her daughters school told her to “watch out” for this movie because she said “within the first 15 minutes my daughter had QUESTIONS” Why are people so against answering their kid’s questions? I really do think it’s cruel for people to hide the fact that their daughters will bleed and cramp EVERY month until it happens. The whole taboo is what makes this such a traumatic thing for girls to experience until they figure out the normalcy of it on their own.

I agree, people who complain about this movie being "Too sexual for kids" are the ones sexualizing it. It's such a dumb take when people say that. You are literally the problem when it comes to sexualizing things or saying this or that is sexual when it's not inherently sexual at all.

I had no idea this movie was "controversial" until after I watched it. I think some people are completely missing the point. THE PANDA DOES NOT REPRESENT JUST ONE THING. The panda represents the new person/life stage Mei is growing into which includes, but is not limited to, boys, periods, rebellion, independence, etc. At school, the panda = "cool" Mei that her classmates suddenly love. It's not that hard to grasp.

The Slow Death of The Chronicles of Narnia Franchise

Disney placed a huge bet on CS Lewis with 2005's The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe and it really paid off...until it didn't. In this video, I go over the franchise, including Prince Caspian and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, to get to the heart of what went wrong with these movies.

EVERYTHING CULTURALLY WRONG WITH MULAN 2020 (And How They Could've Been Fixed)

Mulan is a 2020 American action drama film produced by Walt Disney Pictures. It is a live-action adaptation of Disney's 1998 animated film of the same name, based on the Chinese folklore "The Ballad of Mulan". The film stars Yifei Liu in the title role, alongside Donnie Yen, Tzi Ma, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Ron Yuan, Gong Li, and Jet Li in supporting roles. It is directed by Niki Caro, with screenplay by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Lauren Hynek, and Elizabeth Martin. Plans for a live-action remake began in 2010 but the project stalled in development hell before filming finally began in August 2018. Over the course of production the film was the subject of several controversies, including changes to the source material and filming in Xinjiang in light of the Uyghur genocide and Xinjiang re-education camps.

Do better, Disney.
