And Roar flirted a little too closely with Africa’s most dangerous predators. Are these people in their right minds? The answer depends on a lot of factors. The Wizard of Oz was shot in a time when there were not strong unions representing actors. Buddy Ebson, The Tin Man, nearly died from his aluminum dust make-up. Then there’s John Wayne’s laughable role as Genghis Khan, in The Conqueror, and production took place one hundred miles south of a US military nuclear testing site.
