How John Wick Defied The Odds

How John Wick did the unthinkable, on and off screen Subscribe: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-Screenrant With three movies under their belt, a fourth movie on the way, a spinoff series titled ‘The Continental’ in the works and potentially even a cinematic universe in development, John Wick is certainly a huge franchise. Relaunching Keanu Reeves as a global superstar and reinvigorating the action genre, John Wick’s influence on modern cinema cannot be understated- and with the box office figures being so high, they have the stats to prove it. But, it certainly wasn’t always this way. In truth, the fact that John Wick even got made is a surprise, especially with the long and arduous route it had to go through. With a tiny budget, a lead actor whose career at the time was on a downwards trajectory, an unknown writer, directors who had never directed before and no studio attached the odds were certainly stacked against the movie being a success. But through hard work, determination, a unique vision and of course, Keanu Reeves being Keanu Reeves, the movie went on to be a smash hit. In this documentary we go behind the scenes of one of Hollywood’s greatest franchises, John Wick, and examine how exactly it became so popular. This includes Keanu Reeves doing a number of his own stunts, a surprising blend of action and emotion, a unique fighting style, a scrappy underdog mentality and of course- the inclusion of a dead dog. It all paid off. But the best thing about all of this? The franchise isn’t going away anytime soon.
